Materials

Legiana Scale ×8

Obtained from body carves after defeating Legiana. The primary crafting component forms the bow's elegant ice-blue frame. At 35% carve rate, expect 3-4 hunts for enough scales.

Target carves — 3 per hunt

Legiana Webbing ×4

Acquired by breaking Legiana's wings during combat. These membrane sheets channel ice element into each arrow. Wing breaks occur most reliably with ranged weapon focus or well-timed aerial attacks.

Break both wings — 40% rate each

Legiana Claw ×3

Gathered from broken legs. The sharp talons serve as the bow's grip stabilizers, ensuring steady aim during charged shots. Focus legs when Legiana lands after aerial sweeps.

Break legs — 25% rate

Legiana Plate ×1

The rarest component at a mere 3% carve rate. This pristine chest plating houses concentrated ice energy. Many hunters spend hours grinding for this elusive drop — patience and Persistence are key.

★ Rare — 3% carve rate

Frost Sac ×3

Ice-elemental organ harvested from Legiana carves. Essential for imbuing arrows with freezing power. High Rank only — Low Rank hunts will never yield this material.

HR carves — 20% rate

Coral Crystal ×6

Beautiful azure crystals mined from outcrops across the Coral Highlands. These gemstones amplify and focus the bow's elemental output. Map out the 5 major mining zones for efficient gathering.

Mining outcrops — 30% rate

Monster Bone+ ×4

Quality bone material from various large monsters. Used for the bow's structural limbs and string mechanism. Common from mid-tier hunts and bone piles throughout the Highlands.

Various carves — 20% rate

Optimal Route

1

Hunt Legiana 3-4 Times — Learn Its Patterns

Farm the Coral Highlands and focus on learning Legiana's two signature attacks: the sweeping Ice Breath (wide cone, high damage, dodge sideways) and the diving Aerial Divebomb (dodge roll forward through it). These hunts will naturally yield most Scales and Webbing.

2

Priority Target — Break Wings & Legs

During each hunt, concentrate fire on the wings first (Webbing at 40%) then the legs (Claw at 25%). Use the clutch claw to create weak points when needed. Breaking parts not only yields materials but also disables Legiana's aerial dominance.

3

Grind the Plate — The 3% Challenge

The Legiana Plate is the ultimate gatekeeper. With only a 3% carve chance, expect 10-15+ dedicated hunts. Equip the Legiana's Favor armor set bonus (Good Luck) if available, or eat for Lucky Cat to boost rewards. Investigations with silver/gold reward boxes help bypass pure RNG.

4

Mine Coral Crystals — Scenic Gathering Run

Route through all 5 Coral Highlands mining outcrop zones. The crystal-rich areas near sector 8 and the highest ridge consistently spawn blue mining nodes. Bring Geologist level 3 for extra gathering procs.

5

Forging — The Smith's Anvil

With all 29 materials gathered, visit the smithy. The Legiana Bow branches from the Iron Bow III tree. Total crafting cost: 24,000z. Enjoy your new ice element weapon!

Gotcha Tips

🎲 Legiana Plate — 3% Drop Rate Nightmare

The Plate is the single biggest time sink in this craft. At 3% carve rate with 3 carves per hunt, you have roughly a 9% chance per hunt. Use investigations with silver/gold reward boxes as a parallel farm route. Don't let frustration burn you out — mix in other hunts.

❄️ Frost Sac is HR-Only

Frost Sacs only drop in High Rank. Low Rank Legiana hunts are a complete waste of time for this material. Make sure you're launching HR quests (6★ and above) before beginning this grind. Check your quest star rating before every hunt.

🏹 Bow Requires Extensive Coatings

Bows consume coatings rapidly — Power Coating, Close-range Coating, and status coatings all require dedicated farming. Stockpile Empty Phials and Nitroshrooms between hunts. A bow without coatings loses 30-40% of its damage potential.

💡 Flash Pods for Aerial Combat

Legiana spends roughly 60% of the fight airborne. Bring 3 Flash Pods and 10 Flashbugs to craft mid-hunt. A well-timed flash brings it crashing down, creating massive damage windows. Aim the flash slightly above Legiana for best results.

🧊 Ice Element Matchups Matter

Ice deals massive damage to Rathalos, Rathian, Anjanath, and Teostra. However, it's completely ineffective against water monsters like Jyuratodus or mud-based foes. Always check monster weaknesses before equipping this bow — element matching is everything.

Free Benefits

🌺 Coral Highlands Sightseeing

The Legiana grind takes you through one of the most visually stunning biomes in the game. The luminescent coral spires, floating jellyfish, and crystalline waterfalls make farming far more pleasant. Unique mining outcrops here also yield rare trade-in items.

🎯 Master Critical Distance

Learning the bow means mastering Critical Distance — the sweet spot where arrows deal maximum damage. The Legiana Bow's forgiving spread pattern makes this learning curve smoother. This skill transfers directly to all other bow builds.

🫐 Nulberry Gathering

The Highlands are rich with Nulberries, essential for curing Iceblight (Legiana's status ailment). Stock up during your farm runs — you'll need them for this hunt and many future endgame encounters.

🐉 Aiming Practice vs. Flyers

Legiana is one of the best training dummies for ranged aiming. Its erratic flight patterns force you to lead shots, predict movement, and manage stamina. By the time you finish farming, you'll be a significantly better ranged hunter.
