Master the Supernova
Learn Teostra's signature supernova attack. It has a clear wind-up — Teostra roars, arches back, and flames gather around its body. Use this tell to sheathe and superman-dive or farcaster out.
Priority Breaks: Head & Legs
Focus fire on the head (Horn, 55%) and legs (Claw, 30%). Breaking the head also reduces Teostra's flame aura potency, making the fight safer overall.
Dodge the Powder Explosions
Teostra scatters red explosive dust across the arena. When it detonates, the blast radius is massive. Watch the ground — red particles mean danger zone. Move away before the boom.
The Gem Grind — 2% Drop Rate
Teostra Gem at 2% carve isn't as cruel as some, but still requires patience. Run investigations with gold and silver reward boxes to significantly improve your odds.
Forging
Forge at the Smithy once all materials are collected. The Teostra Longsword delivers high raw damage plus Blast status — each proc deals bonus damage and helps the entire team.
⑤ Gotcha Tips
Supernova = Near-Instant Death
Teostra's supernova has one of the largest damage multipliers in the game. Without 200+ HP or fire res, it is a guaranteed cart. Always keep a Farcasters or be ready to superman-dive.
Powder Blast Radius is Deceptive
The red dust Teostra scatters has a much larger explosion radius than the visual suggests. When you see it glowing bright, roll twice as far as you think you need to.
Gem at 2% — Still a Grind
Teostra Gem's 2% carve rate means roughly 1 in 50 hunts on average. Investigations with 2+ silver/gold boxes can cut this to 15-20 runs. Don't burn out — pace yourself.
Fire Resist or Bust
Without fire resistance gear (20+), Teostra's aura causes continuous chip damage just by standing nearby. Equip Fire Res jewels or eat for Fire Res (L) before every hunt.
Multi-Elder Quests Are Brutal
Quests with Teostra + another Elder Dragon (e.g., Kushala Daora) are exponentially harder. Teostra's explosions don't discriminate — they'll hit other monsters and cause chaos. Stick to solo Teostra hunts for farming.

Premium Mining Grounds
Teostra's domain in the Elder's Recess contains the highest density of red outcrops in the game. While hunting, you'll gather Firecell Stones (20% rate) needed for all fire-element endgame gear.
Explosion Mechanics Mastery
Learning to read Teostra's tells teaches you universal explosion-avoidance skills that transfer directly to Bazelgeuse, Seething Bazelgeuse, and Brachydios fights.
Elder Dragon Combo Patterns
Teostra has some of the most telegraphed but punishing combos among Elders. Mastering its pattern recognition gives you a huge advantage against Nergigante, Kushala Daora, and Velkhana.
Firecell Stockpile
The Firecell Stones you mine during Teostra hunts are used in nearly every fire-element weapon and armor piece in the endgame. Your grind here pays dividends across your entire equipment roster.
