A serious 骷髅洞穴 push to 层 100 requires 50-100 楼梯s — that's 4,950 to 9,900 石头. If you try to farm this manually by breaking rocks, you'll spend 10-15 hours of real time. Buy 石头 from 罗宾. At 20g each, 9,900 石头 costs 198,000g — expensive but achievable with a few 小桶s of 杨桃 wine (see our 小桶 guide). Your time is worth more than the gold.
Before converting all your 石头 to 楼梯s, remember you need 石头 for: Silo (100 石头), Well (75 石头), Coop (100 石头), Barn (150 石头), 棚屋 (100 石头), and many other buildings. Keep at least 500-1,000 石头 in reserve for building projects. A dedicated "石头" chest prevents accidentally using building materials.
Unlike the regular Mines (which have elevator checkpoints every 5 floors), the 骷髅洞穴 has NO elevator. If you pass out or leave, you start from 层 1 next time. This is why 楼梯s are essential — every minute spent on a bad floor is a minute you can't recover. Use 楼梯s liberally; the Iridium you collect on deep floors pays for them many times over.
Prehistoric floors (identifiable by the jungle-themed tileset and dinosaur enemies) are extremely dangerous and time-consuming. Pepper Rex dinosaurs have 300 HP and deal 15 damage. If you brought raw 石头 instead of pre-crafted 楼梯s, you can craft them inside the 骷髅洞穴. Open your crafting menu and craft 楼梯s on-demand. However, this wastes precious in-game time (each craft takes a moment). It's better to pre-craft 50+ 楼梯s before entering and keep them in your inventory or a chest at the Desert entrance.
Once you obtain the 完美雕像 from 爷爷的神龛 (4 candles lit), it produces 2-8 铱矿石 daily automatically. With this, you no longer need deep 骷髅洞穴 runs primarily for Iridium. 楼梯s become mainly for 五彩碎片 hunting and Mr. Qi quests rather than daily Iridium farming.

While farming 石头, you'll naturally gain Mining XP. The ultimate goal of 楼梯-fueled deep runs is finding 五彩碎片s — the rarest and most valuable item in the game. Used for: 银河之剑 (hold at the Three Pillars in the Desert), enchanting tools at the Forge (姜岛), museum donation, and gifting (every villager loves it). 五彩碎片 drop rate increases on deeper floors — 层 100+ has approximately 4% chance from Iridium Nodes.
Reaching 骷髅洞穴 层 100 on your first visit triggers a unique cutscene with Mr. Qi. He rewards you with "Mr. Qi's Challenge" — a special order that leads to further quests, the Qi's Walnut Room on 姜岛, and access to the most powerful late-game items and challenges. This is gated behind deep 骷髅洞穴 runs, which are only possible with 楼梯s.
