1 Why the Scout Chassis Is Worth the Deep Dive
The Scout Chassis is the fastest small vehicle in Subnautica 2. While the Tadpole gives you depth, the Scout gives you speed and agility. It can navigate tight cave systems where the Tadpole can't fit, making it essential for exploring wrecks and gathering fragments in dangerous areas.
Think of the Scout as your daily driver and the Tadpole as your RV. The Scout is what you'll use for 80% of your exploration — quick resource runs, fragment hunting, and escaping predators. It's small enough to dock inside the Tadpole, giving you the best of both worlds.

Follow this order to minimize backtracking and maximize efficiency.
① Scan 2 Scout Fragments
Fragment 1: Underwater Islands wreck (~150m) — floating island archipelago, beautiful but watch for Warpers
Fragment 2: Mushroom Forest wreck (~120m) — giant mushroom trees provide cover, Bonesharks patrol the area
② Gather Materials
Farm 10 Titanium from Limestone Outcrops → Craft Titanium Ingot
Harvest Creepvine Seed Cluster from Kelp Forest → Craft Lubricant
Craft 2 Batteries + Silicone Rubber → Craft Power Cell
③ Build at Vehicle Bay
Use existing Mobile Vehicle Bay → Select Scout → Build

5 ⚠ Gotcha Tips — Don't Waste Your Time
Read this BEFORE you start.
Warpers can teleport you out of your vehicle. Approach the fragment with caution, scan quickly, and keep moving.
Bonesharks are aggressive and will attack the Scout. Use the Scout's speed to outrun them — don't try to fight.
The Scout can only go to 200m. For deeper exploration, you need the Tadpole or depth upgrades. Don't dive too deep.
6 🎁 Free Benefits — Loot Along the Way
Don't leave empty-handed.
While getting the fragment: Islands have precursor technology scans, data logs, and unique flora/fauna for your PDA. Plus great base building locations.
While getting the fragment: Giant mushrooms have Lithium deposits on their stems, and the forest floor has Shale Outcrops (Gold, Lithium, Diamond).
While getting Creepvine Seeds: Also collect Metal Salvage (4x Titanium when recycled) and Stalker Teeth (drop when Stalkers bite metal — save for Enamelled Glass).
