1 Why This Recipe Matters
Cast Screws. Its genius is simple: it replaces Screws with Wire in the production of Reinforced Iron Plates. This seemingly small change has enormous implications for your factory's layout, resource consumption, and production efficiency throughout the entire early and mid-game. Reinforced Iron Plates are required for virtually everything: Conveyor Belts, Conveyor Lifts, Portable Miners, the MAM, the AWESOME Shop, Modular Frames, and countless HUB upgrades. Every single one of those items becomes cheaper and easier to produce with Stitched Iron Plates." data-zh="缝合铁板替代配方可以说是《幸福工厂》中最具影响力的早期配方解锁,影响力仅次于铸造螺丝。 >The Stitched Iron Plate alternate recipe is arguably the most impactful early-game recipe unlock in Satisfactory, rivaled only by Cast Screws. Every single one of those items becomes cheaper and easier to produce with Stitched Iron Plates.
Production Efficiency Gain
The default Reinforced Iron Plate recipe requires 6 Iron Plates and 12 Screws to produce 1 Reinforced Iron Plate in an Assembler. Producing those 12 Screws requires an Iron Rod Constructor feeding a Screw Constructor, which in turn requires Iron Ingots from a Smelter. The full default chain is: Iron Ore → Smelter → Iron Ingot → Constructor (Plate) = 6 Plates. AND: Iron Ore → Smelter → Iron Ingot → Constructor (Rod) → Constructor (Screw) = 12 Screws. Then both feed into an Assembler. That's 4 machines just for the screw portion of ONE Reinforced Iron Plate.
The Stitched Iron Plate recipe changes this entirely. It requires 6 Iron Plates and 15 Wire to produce 2 Reinforced Iron Plates. Wire is made directly from Copper Ingots in a Constructor — no rod step, no screw step. The full chain becomes: Iron Ore → Smelter → Iron Ingot → Constructor (Plate) = 6 Plates. AND: Copper Ore → Smelter → Copper Ingot → Constructor (Wire) = 15 Wire. Both feed into an Assembler producing 2 Reinforced Iron Plates. You've eliminated the Iron Rod Constructor and the Screw Constructor entirely, and you're producing DOUBLE the output.
When to Unlock
Cast Screws, this recipe is available from the earliest Crash Sites in the Grass Fields starting area. You can potentially obtain it within your first few hours of gameplay. The recipe is usable immediately — you need nothing more than an Assembler (Tier 2), Iron Plates, and Wire, all of which are available from the very beginning of the game." data-zh="一旦达到T1并解锁MAM,你就应该优先解锁缝合铁板。像铸造螺丝一样,该配方可以从草原起始区域的最早坠机地点获得。你可能在游戏前几小时内就获得它。该配方可以立即使用——你只需要组装器(T2)、铁板和线,这些都是游戏一开始就有的。">You should prioritize unlocking Stitched Iron Plate as soon as you reach Tier 1 and gain access to the MAM. Like Cast Screws, this recipe is available from the earliest Crash Sites in the Grass Fields starting area. You can potentially obtain it within your first few hours of gameplay. The recipe is usable immediately — you need nothing more than an Assembler (Tier 2), Iron Plates, and Wire, all of which are available from the very beginning of the game.
The ideal timing is immediately after you unlock the Assembler at Tier 2. Before Tier 2, you can't craft Reinforced Iron Plates at all (they require an Assembler), so there's no rush. But the moment you place your first Assembler, every Reinforced Iron Plate you make should use the Stitched recipe. The savings compound rapidly: by Tier 3, you will have crafted hundreds of Reinforced Iron Plates, and the Stitched recipe saves you thousands of screws and dozens of machine-hours.

45 Iron Ingot → Constructor (Plate) → 15 Iron Plate
23 Copper Ore → Smelter → 23 Copper Ingot
23 Copper Ingot → Constructor (Wire) → 30 Wire
15 Plate + 30 Wire → Assembler → 5 Reinforced Plate/min (2x speed!)
Scaling to 50 Reinforced Iron Plates Per Minute
To produce 50 Reinforced Iron Plates per minute with the default recipe, you need 10 Assemblers, 30 Iron Plate Constructors, 30 Iron Rod Constructors, and 30 Screw Constructors, consuming 600 Iron Ore per minute. With Stitched Iron Plate, you need only 10 Assemblers, 15 Iron Plate Constructors, and 15 Wire Constructors, consuming 300 Iron Ore and 150 Copper Ore per minute. The machine count drops from 100 to 40, and Iron Ore consumption is cut in half. The only 'cost' is Copper Ore, which is abundant in early-game biomes.
Comparison with Other Plate Recipes

Recipe Pool Information
The Stitched Iron Plate recipe is part of the Tier 1-2 alternate recipe pool. This pool includes: Stitched Iron Plate, Cast Screws, Iron Wire, Biomass (Wood), Biomass (Leaves), Concrete (alternate), Copper Rotor, and several others. With approximately 15-20 recipes in the pool, your odds of seeing Stitched Iron Plate on your first Hard Drive are roughly 1 in 5 to 1 in 7. Given how accessible early Crash Sites are, most pioneers can obtain this recipe within 1-3 Hard Drive attempts.
Stitched Iron Plate and Cast Screws are in the SAME recipe pool. If you get one early, your odds of getting the other improve because the pool shrinks. Prioritize visiting ALL accessible Tier 1-2 Crash Sites in the Grass Fields and Rocky Desert before moving to higher-tier biomes. The 15-20 early recipes can all be obtained from these easy-to-reach locations, and both Stitched Iron Plate and Cast Screws should be among your first unlocks.
4 Unlock Strategy
MAM Research Requirements
The unlock path for Stitched Iron Plate is straightforward and accessible from the very beginning of the game:

Recommended Unlock Order
For maximum early-game efficiency, we recommend the following unlock priority:
- Cast Screws — Immediate screw production boost for ALL items
- Stitched Iron Plate — Eliminates screw demand for Reinforced Iron Plates
- Iron Wire — Backup wire production when copper is scarce
- Copper Alloy Ingot — Triple copper ingot yield (Tier 3)
- Fused Wire — Triple Wire + Quickwire (Tier 5)
5 Gotcha Tips
Because Stitched Iron Plate is in the early recipe pool and the pool is relatively small (15-20 recipes), save scumming is extremely effective. Save before inserting your first Hard Drive into the MAM. If you don't see Stitched Iron Plate among the three options, reload and try again. With patience, you can guarantee this recipe on your very first Hard Drive, setting your entire factory up for success from hour one.
